February 3rd, 2016. Bathroom, How to Take Care of Your Teak Bathroom Vanities.
A lot of people would love to have teak bathroom vanities for it looks natural and teak is an extremely durable wood material. Indeed, teak requires only little maintenance, so once you have to take care of this furniture do it right.
Regular cleaning with homemade ingredients
There is a big chance for you to split some soap, tooth paste or any cosmetic to the bathroom vanities. Don’t worry if you have no time to clean the vanities everyday, you can just clean it once a while. Rather than using some chemical material, you can use some ingredients in your kitchen to clean the vanities. You just have to mix half cup of vinegar and three glasses of water. And then, apply the vinegar with some clothes to clean the vanity. The acid will help you cleaning the wood without damaging its color.
If you find any scratch which is difficult to be cleansed with the vinegar, you can use chlorine and laundry detergent. Mix a little chlorine and laundry detergent with some water and then apply it carefully to your bathroom vanity and leave it for about 15 minutes before you rinse the furniture with some water. It is suggested for you to wear some gloves to protect your hand, chlorine and detergent may irritate your skin. After that you have to wipe the whole part of the vanity with some clothes to dry it up. Since both of these ingredients are mixed with water, you cannot use them everyday. Just use them once in a while when you find your teak bathroom vanities need to be cleansed.
Protecting the teak
Besides you have to clean the vanity once in a while, it is also important for you to protect the teak. The best thing you can do to keep the teak glow is to oil them. Oiling the teak vanities will keep the wood glowing and prevent any dirt to easily scratch the wood. It is very practical; you just need to oil the teak every three or four months with some wood oil.
How about the best way to oil the teak? First, apply the oil carefully to all over the vanity surface with soft brush. After you apply the oil with soft brush, leave it for about five to ten minutes. Do not apply the oil with clothes. It is not effective for most of the oil will be absorbed to the clothes. Second, use some clothes to clean the oil. Do not just leave the oil dry by itself, it takes time and smelly. There is a big chance for some dirt to stick if you leave the teak bathroom vanities just like that.
